I believe women deserve to understand what’s happening in their bodies — not just be told to live with it.

I’m Aleksandra Ostrowska-Wiwer — biologist, herbalist, naturopath and menopause coach.

My work today is focused largely on women navigating perimenopause and midlife — particularly when sleep has changed, energy has disappeared, mood feels less predictable, concentration isn’t what it used to be, or they simply don’t feel quite like themselves anymore.

And one thing has become very clear to me:

not everything a woman experiences in midlife should automatically be explained away as “just hormones”.

Sleep, nutrition, stress, digestion, nutrient status, health history, medication, lifestyle and hormonal change can all be part of a much bigger picture. That’s why I believe good support starts with understanding what is actually happening — not simply matching a symptom to a supplement or herb.

Why herbal medicine?

I’ve been fascinated by plants and the natural world for as long as I can remember, but my approach to herbal medicine is grounded in much more than a love of herbs.

My background in biology, herbal medicine and naturopathy shapes the way I work: curious, evidence-informed and individual.

Herbs can be incredibly valuable, but I don’t believe in choosing them simply because they’re trending or because they appear on a list of “best herbs for menopause”.

I want to understand why I’m using something, what role it is intended to play, how it fits alongside everything else a woman is already doing, and when herbal support may not be the appropriate answer.

What I do today

Through Herbedies, I bring that approach into several different forms of support.

I work one-to-one with women, looking beyond isolated symptoms to understand their wider health picture and establish clearer priorities.

I personally formulate Herbedies herbal blends, selecting and combining botanicals with a specific purpose in mind rather than creating one generic “menopause tea”.

And I create digital guides, programmes and educational resources for women who want to better understand their bodies and take practical steps at their own pace.

Education has always been an important part of my work, which is also why I created Herbal Foundations — my online course for people who want to understand herbal medicine more deeply and use herbs with greater knowledge, confidence and respect for safety.

Beyond Herbedies

Writing has become another important part of my work.

I’ve contributed to Botanical Anthology, writing about herbal medicine and our relationship with plants, and I’m also the author of Plant Medicine.

But whether I’m writing, working with a client or standing in my herb room formulating a new blend, the principle behind my work is the same:

understand first, then choose the support.

Because women deserve better than more guesswork, another generic protocol, or being made to feel that every change they experience is something they simply have to put up with.

Herbedies is my way of bringing together the things I care about most — biology, botanical medicine, education and thoughtful, individual support for women.

I’m glad you’re here.
